Start with identity and configuration
Confirm the reference, dial, bezel, bracelet or strap, case material, and requested options before reviewing small details.
Visual inspection

- Hand alignment and finish
- Date centering and magnification
- Bezel insert and alignment
- Case, crystal, bracelet, and clasp condition
Functional inspection
Confirm crown positions, winding, time setting, date change, bezel action, chronograph or GMT functions where applicable, and clasp operation.
Timegrapher context
Rate, amplitude, and beat error are useful together. A single number should not be interpreted without the test position and state of wind.
